Summer is flying by and the temperature is heating up…along with the increasing temps and humidity comes the 2008 Iowa State Fair.  The State Fair begins on August 7th until the 17th.  The Theme:  U gotta Love It!

Some of the everyday events at the fair include activities like:  the “Extreme Canines Stunt Dog Show”, the “Bill Riley’s Talent Show”, “Perry’s Petting Zoo”, and let’s not forget the “World-Famous Butter Cow”…just thinking about it makes me want to grab some corn on the cob! 

For all those 80’s fans:  Def Leppard (Sat. 16th), Rick Springfield (Sat. 9th), Scandal (Sat. 9th), Foreigner (Sun. 10th) and Night Ranger (Sun. 10th).  For the Oldies:  The Chystals (Sun. 10th), Elvis Impersonator (Sat. 16th) and Hot Rod Chevy Kevy (Wed. 13th).   For the Kids:  Bob the Builder live performance (daily), Art Attack (daily), Animal Learning Center and the Little Hands on the Farm…and Vanessa Hudgens & Corbin Bleu!

Let’s not forget the food:  Snickers on a stick (Basically any food on a stick), A turkey drumstick, Cotton Candy, Funnel Cakes, Zag’s Popcorn, Gyros and All kinds of Pork products.
