Will Iowa Go Green? Eco-Friendly Businesses

Iowa businesses seem to be catching on to the green movement.  Everywhere I go, it seems like local companies are trying to promote how green they have become.  Are you seeing and hearing it too?

For example, how many times a day are you bombarded with a radio advertisement for a site called Iowa Go Green, or IowaGoGreen.com?  I had no idea who was behind the marketing until I went there tonight.  Turns out it’s Clear Channel, which owns Capital 106.3, KISS 107 FM, 100.3 The Bus, KXNO, and WHO Radio.  The site is fairly new at this point, but already it has some useful information.  Overall, the site is well done and easy to navigate.  I guess the message is that if you want to do things that are good for the environment, listen to these stations!

Another organization that will no doubt be spending a lot of your green to do a ton of television and radio advertising is the Iowa Lottery.  Stop by IALottery.com and click on the Go For The Green promotion to learn how you might be able to win the grand prize, a 2008 Chevy Tahoe Hybrid SUV.  Valued at over $79,000 (since the IA Lottery is picking up the Federal and State taxes, title, license, and tossing in $1000 to help you fill the gas tank), this vehicle is nothing like the influx of hybrid Prius’ that have recently invaded our state.

It will cost you $20 for a chance to own the most expensive, greenest suv in Iowa.  If you don’t win, eight finalists will get some other goodies including a $500 gas card (ethanol blend, of course) and $200 bucks cash.  This “Set of Wheels” promotion runs through July 13, 2008.

So, which other companies are promoting their green in Des Moines and throughout Iowa?
