University Ave In Waukee Reopens

For people who live in Waukee and work in Des Moines or other cities in the metro, it was a long 6-7 months waiting for the University Avenue widening project to be finished. I remember the day it happened (only a few weeks ago) and I’m sure it was a welcome sight for hundreds of commuters.

During the road construction, some of the businesses likely suffered as traffic was way down in that area. Kum & Go had decent access, but Pizza Ranch, Oswald Chiropractic, Central Iowa Orthodontics, and several others were not easy to reach. Even the Waukee High School and adjoining YMCA were affected. Here is a short video of the completed work, coming in from the North on Ashworth Drive and turning East onto University Ave in Waukee, Iowa.
